To ensure we are able to give a predictable experience for handling changes, we are introducing change management in Azure AD as a bi-annual communication trains (March & September) as explained in this recent blog that covers ADAL & Azure AD Graph API deprecation and a couple of other updates as well:

Azure Active Directory Authentication Library (ADAL) Retirement:

As previously announced, ADAL end-of-life remains unchanged, which is "December 31, 2022".

    • Existing ADAL apps may continue to work.
    • All Microsoft support and development for ADAL, including security fixes, ends on December 31, 2022.
    • There are no ADAL feature releases or new platform version releases planned prior to December 31, 2022.
    • No new features have been added to ADAL since June 30, 2020.

We recommend prioritizing the migration of your application to Microsoft Authentication Library (MSAL) at the earliest. The guidance to get started on ADAL to MSAL migration is available here - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/develop/msal-migration

    Azure AD Graph API:

Azure AD Graph will continue to function until June 30, 2023. Based on Azure deprecation guidelines, we reserve the right to retire Azure AD Graph at any time after June 30, 2023, without advance notice. Though we reserve the right to turn it off after June 30, 2023, we want to ensure all customers migrate off and discourage applications from taking production dependencies on Azure AD Graph. Investments in new features and functionalities will only be made in Microsoft Graph. Going forward, we will continue to support Azure AD Graph with security-related fixes.

We recommended prioritizing the migration of your applications from Azure AD Graph to Microsoft Graph at the earliest. The guidance to get started on the migration from Azure AD Graph to Microsoft Graph is available here - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/migrate-azure-ad-graph-overview

Can you precise what will happen exactly in December 2022, please?
The Azure AD and MSOnline cmdlets will return an error?

    Regards,

Is the plan still to retire Azure AD Graph API any time after June 30th, 2023? Is there a more precise date on when this will no longer function?
