Why doesn't Microsoft Edge remember where it was when I last closed it?

Most Windows applications will open in the position and size it was when I last closed it. This includes the monitor it was on when I closed it. Microsoft Edge did this as well. Reliably. For years.

Now, for reasons I don't understand MS Edge has stopped opening up where I last opened it, in one of my Windows profiles on my desktop PC. Instead, when I log into Windows and open MS Edge to use it, it always opens on my left monitor, very narrow.

I HATE THAT!!!!!!!

My 30" monitors are not a phone that require MS Edge to run narrow. I've got two monitors. Now I always must move it to the right monitor and widen it, as well as make its height shorter. However, after several weeks I know that MS Edge will never remember that I've had to reposition and resize it. What has changed so it treats my customization so totally disregarding where and in what shape I last had MS Edge? And this behavior is only done in one of my Windows profiles on my desktop PC. In the other Windows profile, MS Edge behaves as it has always behaved, remembering where I last had it and the size and shape of it.

    Hi @Rod Falanga ,

Thanks for your reply and details. In the Command-line provided, I'm not sure why it has the address of this thread, you can see if the Target is changed in the Edge shortcut. Just right click on Edge shortcut -> Properties -> Target. Make sure the value in target property: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe". Something like this:

If this way doesn't work, I suggest you can reinstall Edge, in windows settings -> apps -> apps & features -> find Microsoft Edge -> click the three-dot button -> Modify -> Repair.

In addition, You mentioned that the problem only occurs in one of the windows profiles, and sometimes your account can get corrupted for various reasons, and if that happens, you might encounter window position issues in Microsoft Edge. Since it’s quite hard to repair a corrupted account, it’s advised to create a new account and move your personal files to it. For more details, please refer to this offical doc.

    Regards,
    Xudong Peng
