Azure Maps in Power BI keeps resizing when auto zoom disabled

I am trying to fix an Azure map so it does not resize and does not change the Style from Blank back to Grey. This is very frustrating and I am not sure how this got past certification for a release as it is useless in the is state.

That actually looks pretty good. Some thoughts:

Have you tried the dark greyscale map style to see if it is suitable for you (no washed out).
For "resizing" there is two possible things that could be happening. The map could be zooming into the data (unless auto zoom is disabled), or the available area for the map in the report/web page changes (browser size changes, page zoomed...) which would cause the map to resize its physical side and may result in it having to change its zoom level. When the map container area is small, certain zoom levels may be unavailable I believe.

Are you sure you are using the Azure Maps visual for that map? I don't see the copyrights/logo in the bottom right corner that always appear in that visual. I don't believe there is any way to disable that in the options, so had to ask.

The image I provided is not using Azure maps, I am using a background that I created and then I added the cities using a card, where I have set conditional format to change the colour based on the exchange open ours. A bit tricky to do but i figured it out. Ideally I just need a static map where I can use the location and set it to transparent to align with a canvas using a .png file that has a decent looking colour theme. I think they have a few more things to work out with Azure maps. Thank you for your input. I will use what i have for the time being and explore some third party options.

There are two thing that I am trying to achieve,

Have a static world map where I can display the major stock exchanges, and apply some categories against them with conditional formatting.

Improve on the light gray scheme it is too washed out . Here is what I was able to achieve but It is a work around I want to use best practice and have a truly data driven model where I can then reference other data points in the future.

In that case, unless you need to show a lot more points on the map or need a details map view (roads/country borders or imagery), that approach you have taken is a good one. In fact, it will likely load a lot faster than if you were to use a fully interactive map control as those have a lot of resources they use behind the scenes.

If you disable auto zoom, you have to manually specify the zoom level and center points in the options below the auto zoom button.

As for the changing map style, I'm not able to reproduce that. Make sure you save your report after editing it. File -> Save, otherwise your changes will be reverted.
