The file provided is not supported. Check the requirements for deploying the selected app type.

I had this same issue with a custom PKG file, which installed happily on device 1, but threw the 0x87D30143 error on device 2. I realised I'd already tested the pkg on device 2 manually before uploading to Intune, and so checked the installed packages on device 2 with 'pkgutil --packages' and confirmed that MacOS thought the package was already installed.

Ran 'pkgutil --forget' on the package in question on device 2 and resync'd with Intune - the software installed with no issues.

@Paul Kieran Thanks for posting in our Q&A.

This error code is not recorded in our official article. It is suggested to check if this app is installed on the device.

Sometimes, despite an installation error on the Intune Portal, the app has been successfully installed on the device.

I couldn't repeat this issue because I don't have MacOS. Given this situation, it is suggested to create an online support ticket to find if there is more helpful information from the backend. Here is the support link:

Hope everything goes well with you.

Same Issue here for a globalprotect.pkg Installation.

Same problem here, with a custom .pkg and with a standard .dmg (From Konica Minolta, so a simple driver) The applications worked fine for 60+ units then suddenly failed on a unit for no apparent reason.

I encountered the same error message with a custom .PKG file. However in my case the application successfully installed and worked fine just as @Lu Dai-MSFT suggested. So Intune gave me a false report.
