Hyper-V: Checkpoint operation failed

Question

Hi All,

I am having issue starting 1 of VM after I Export it to D:\ (hdd-local folder) from C:\ (SSD) since full storage. Default folders created on D:\ named: Snapshots, Virtual Hard Disks and Virtual Machine after Export. On Import I created new folder on D:\ for VHDX, Checkpoints and Paging File then map to VM.

Import works and VM starts fine but, came error after I delete the duplicate VHDX and AVHDX files on "Virtual Hard Disks" default folder created from Export on D:\

I have restored both VHDX and AVHDX files and VM ID "CACAFC7A" still present.

VM went BSOD. Stop code: MEMORY MANAGEMENT. Below shows after but still not working.

Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Thanks for your post.

It is recommended to remove the checkpoints of your VMs in the Hyper-V Manager or using the powershell command Remove-VMSnapshot. Deleting the differencing virtual disk files directly will cause the virtual disk chain broken.

If the avhdx files cannot be merged automatically, you have to try merging them manually. Please refer to the following links.
